SchoolsMovingUp April Webinars: Early Head Start

The Office of Head Start has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the expansion of Early Head Start throughout the nation, using the additional funding available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. In response to the RFP, WestEd’s SchoolsMovingUp website will feature another free webinar series, “Early Head Start:  Providing a Quality Comprehensive Program for Infants, Toddlers and Their Families.”  The aim of the series is to assist Head Start/Early Head Start grantees, school districts, and community based organizations in thinking about their capacity to effectively serve infants and toddlers.

Part I will be presented on Tuesday, April 7th
Part II will take place on Thursday, April 9th

The time of both webinars will be from 1:30pm – 3pm
In this webinar series, Kay Wernert, Director of Marin Head Start; Cheryl Williams-Jackson, Instructor in the Child Development Department, Modesto Junior College; and Pamm Shaw, Executive Director of the Berkeley-Albany YMCA Early Childhood Services Branch will provide participants with an overview of Early Head Start.  In Part I, participants will learn about the parameters of the Early Head Start Request for Proposals, the regulations and performance standards regarding the operation of a quality Early Head Start program, and how to assess whether or not to apply for funds.  Part II will continue to explore the appropriateness of applying for funds and also discuss program and fiscal blending, including successful blended models.  In order to make the most of Part II, it is highly recommended that participants either join the live webinar of Part I or view the archive.   SchoolsMovingUp is co-sponsoring this webinar series with First 5 California, in partnership with WestEd Center for Child & Family Studies, the California Head Start Association, the California Child Development Administrators Association, and Preschool California.  For more information, including specific topics to be addressed by this webinar series, and to register for this webinar please visit http://www.schoolsmovingup.net/webinars.
