New Hampshire Parent Center Wins TATRA Award for Excellence
The New Hampshire Parent Information Center is the recipient of the TATRA Project’s new Award for Excellence in Transition-focused Parent Training. The award winning resource, “Life After High School Transition Tool Kit” was developed by the New Hampshire Parent Information Center (PIC) in collaboration with NH State Department of Education and is available online at http://www.pacer.org/tatra/2009Award.pdf. The publication can be downloaded at no cost and complements Life After High School — Transition Planning and the IEP, an online workshop also available on the PIC web site. “New Hampshire’s Transition Toolkit reflects current transition research, is available in online and electronic formats, and promotes youth leadership and development,” said Deborah Leuchovius, TATRA project director. “Its ease of replication will be helpful to other states and parent centers who wish to adapt the tool kit to their own use.” A related workshop “Life After High School — Transition Planning and the IEP,” is also available on the PIC web site http://www.nhspecialed.org/. The TATRA Project is a project of PACER Center. It is funded by the RSA to provide technical assistance to parent information and training projects funded by RSA and to promote achievement in the areas of vocational rehabilitation, career development, and transition within the national network of parent centers funded by the federal Office of Special Education Programs.
