Gannett Foundation Accepting Applications for Community Action Grants

Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded to nonprofits working to improve their communities in locations where Gannett owns a newspaper or broadcast station.  Community action grant priorities include education and neighborhood improvement, economic development, youth development, community problem-solving, assistance to disadvantaged people, environmental conservation, and cultural enrichment. About 60 percent of the foundation’s community grants target grassroots organizations in the areas of social/human services, health, and mental health, and are intended to benefit the most disadvantaged people in local communities.
