Announcing Bright Beginnings Because a strong foundation in early reading and mathematics is essential to each child’s future success, Florida’s standards, instruction, and assessments in Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) through third grade must be structured so that learning builds progressively from grade to grade. An initiative known as Bright Beginnings has been developed to provide stakeholders with child expectations standards, resources, and tools for instruction; tools and training for assessment; and information/resources for parents.
