Mini-grants for Public Schools and Public Libraries
Ezra Jack Keats Mini-grant Program for Public Schools and Public Libraries supports educators, parents and children in their efforts to spread literacy and love of learning. Maximum Award: $500. Eligibility: public schools and libraries anywhere in the United States and its protectorates.

The Staples Foundation for Learning provides funding to programs that support or provide job skills and/or education for all people, with an emphasis on disadvantaged youth.

Captain Planet Foundation Education Grants
The Captain Planet Foundation supports projects that:
1) Promote understanding of environmental issues
2) Focus on hands-on involvement;
3) Involve children and young adults 6-18 (elementary through high school);
4) Promote interaction and cooperation within the group
5) Help young people develop planning and problem solving skills
6) Include adult supervision
7) Commit to follow-up communication with the foundation (specific requirements are explained once the grant has been awarded)
Deadline: June 30th, 2008.
Average amount: $250 – $2,500.

Youth Grants to Preserve Community History
The History Channel Save Our History Grant Program inspires youth to become the preservationists in their communities. Museums, historic sites, historical societies, preservation organizations, libraries and archives are invited to partner with a local school or youth group and apply for funding to help preserve the history of their communities.
Maximum Award: $10,000.
Eligibility: 501(c) (3) history organizations.

ADDA Teleclass Series
The Attention Deficit Disorder Association is sponsoring a Teleclass series. Class will be available over the phone as well as through the internet. Online participants will be able to view the presenter’s slides as well as chat with other participants. All attendees will be able to submit questions and have them answered live. All Teleclasses will be recorded and available for download approximately 2 weeks following each teleclass. This series is free for ADDA members and membership rates are currently $45.

CLAST Preparation Workshop
Edison College is offering preparation workshops for the College-Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) this spring/summer. CLAST skill support materials, including testing tips, as well as remedial materials, will be provided by a well-qualified CLAST instructor holding a MA degree.

Registration Open for First Annual Youth Summit

This event is for youth and emerging leaders with disabilities between the ages of 13 and 30. It has been designed by members of the Florida Youth Council and will address important issues faced by youth and emerging leaders with disabilities in our state, including, but not limited to, topics such as sex and relationships, voting, exercise and fitness, disability history, disability disclosure, conflict resolution, navigating social situations, resume writing, and the IEP process. It will also include plenty of opportunities for networking, including a movie night and a dance party. There is no registration fee and limited financial assistance is available.
